No. 30959. Reg. BJ 1458. “Cornishman”. Built 1912. 4nhp. 6 tons. Compound Showman’s Tractor, supplied new as a Class “4CD” Tractor to John Griffiths, Bargoed, Glamorgan. Later moved to Norfolk and then to Lancashire where it was converted to a roller. Rebuilt to its present form in preservation. It was brought to Cornwall in 1982 by Bernard True of St. Agnes and acquired by the Vincent family in 1992 since when it has been extensively repaired. Owned by: Christopher Vincent, Fraddon.

No. 33353. Reg. BJ 4236. “The Chough”. Built 1918. 4nhp. 7 tons. Class ‘4CD’ Steam Tractor, supplied new to R. Dingle & Sons Ltd. for road haulage. One of the first engines to be preserved in Cornwall and attended the Society’s inaugural steam up at Coombe in the ownership of Joe Warren of Carn Brea. In 1961 the engine passed into the ownership of Bernard Broad of Pentewan near St. Austell who converted the engine to showman’s specifications. In 2004 the engine passed into the ownership of his Grandson who has returned the engine to its original tractor form. Owned by: Andrew Williams, St. Austell.

No. 35225. Reg. OU 3239. “Lesley” Built 1929. 4nhp. 5 tons. Compound 4CD Steam Tractor, being the last one built and new to C. Light & Co. of Yeovil, Somerset. Sold to a firm in Bournemouth and used for timber haulage. There is no record of this engine during the Second World War but in 1947 it was known to have been owned by Charter Rowlands in County Durham. Following a number of ownerships in the North of England the engine was purchased by the present owner and brought to Cornwall. In recent years the engine has undertaken a run entitled ”Lesley’s Jog” from John O’Groats to Lands End in aid of Cancer Research. Currently having major boiler work.
