No. 48279. Reg. TA 4561. “Phoenix”. Built 1919. 6nhp. 13.5 tons. Compound Traction Engine fitted with maker’s unusual cross-over valve gear. Exhibited new at the Cardiff Royal Show and the Devon County Show at Barnstaple, thereafter being sold to the Swimbridge Steam Threshing Co. of Landkey, North Devon. Sold in 1926 to W. Carter, Riddlecombe, Devon, then to P.A. Scott of Beaford. Lay derelict from 1948 to 1965 when the present owner took her on after three others had given up on her. Restored over the next six years, she was rallied from 1971 until 1986. Since then she has again undergone a very thorough rebuild. Owned by: David Solomon & Son, Camborne.

No. 48946. Reg. YA 9576. “Ironside”. Built 1924. 5nhp. 11 tons. Single Cylinder Slide Valve Steam Roller, new to W.W. Buncombe of Somerset with whom it spent its’ working life. It was sold in the late 1960’s to a Mr. Sherbourne who owned the engine for a short time before selling it to a Mr. Vaughan-Jenkins of Bath who owned the engine for some twenty years. It regularly attended the local rallies during this time. It was purchased by the present owner in April 2002 and brought to Cornwall in December of that year. Owned by: Julian Williams, Redruth.
